Organic Skin Care Tips

Healthy skin is more often than not dependant on doing the things that help along the body's own natural cleansing and repair processes. Short term masking of the underlying causes behind premature aging and an unhealthy or tired looking complexion is just a quick fix that all too often presents longer term problems - bury your head in the sand for long enough and you're really just going to get a sandy face!

The good news is that taking a more holistic approach to day to day care is simple, and so easily routined that before long you'll hardly notice the effort at all.

Healthy Eating
A good diet is the basis for a healthy body and a healthy mind. But for your skin it can mean the difference between an uphill struggle and a refreshing downhill ride. Eating less fatty food is the usual stock recommendation and while this is undeniable true it is equally important to make sure that you look at the quality and balance of your food intake.

Did you know that eating minimally processed untreated food such as fresh organic fruit and vegetables means that you get much more nutritional value than you would see in tinned, cooked or preserved alternatives. Raw organic carrots, tomatoes, and green leaf vegetables offer a particularly good source of vitamin E which is important for natural skin repair and renewal.

Exercise
You don't need to go for gold when exercising for healthier skin, but it will help greatly if you can do it often (3-4 times per week) and to a level that gets you puffing - albeit comfortably. Aerobic exercises like walking, running, cycling, or swimming not only increase blood flow and metabolism (so producing a healthier complexion) but give you a more relaxed and positive outlook to alleviate that great enemy of the skin - stress.

Water maintains the body's hydration levels and fuels the 'flow and flush' of toxins from the skin. Too little water and the process struggles so don't forget to up your intake of water if you do decide to go for gold (from about 8 glasses per day up to anything like 15 glasses depending on your level of activity).

Cleanse, Tone, and Moisturise
Common to the majority of dermal damage is the presence of toxins in the skin. So far we've looked at caring for the skin from the inside out, so to speak, and along with the small changes we've made the great rewards come when we stimulate and enhance the skin's natural renewal and repair mechanisms through our daily care routines.

This means cleansing, toning, and moisturising without stripping moisture, or upsetting the 'flushing' process by clogging pores, or, most importantly, not adding to the skin's toxic burden. Using truly natural or organic skincare products is the only way to achieve this because not only are they formulated to work with the skin but they do it without the use of artificial chemicals, perfumes, or preservatives.
